Maximum duration of stay

The maximum duration of stay on an Indian visa varies according to nationality. For example, nationals of the US and Japan are allowed 180 days of stay in India on a single visit. While other nationalities are limited to 90 days of stay, the Indian government has increased the maximum period of stay for foreign visitors from 90 to 180 days. It is important to know the maximum duration of stay on an Indian visa so that you are not overstaying your stay.

There are different types of visas available, including business and medical. The validity period of each visa is six months. Those who wish to stay in India for more than six months must apply for a business visa. A business visa for India allows a U.S. citizen to visit the country for up to 180 days. It also allows multiple visits within the same year. While this can be a short stay, it is often necessary to plan your trip carefully.

Process of obtaining a visa

To visit India, foreign nationals must have a valid international travel document and a valid visa. To apply for an Indian visa, applicants must visit the Indian Mission or the Indian Post abroad and submit a duly completed application form. Along with the form, the applicant must submit a recent passport-style color photo of their face. If the applicant wears glasses, a photo of the glasses is not acceptable. Applicants must also provide a working email address and a return ticket out of the country.

Once the application is completed, the applicant must print the completed form. The first page should be signed in a small rectangular box towards the top right corner. The second page should be signed on the signature line. Applicants who are minors must follow additional requirements when signing the application. It is recommended that applicants fill out the application in its entirety, including all necessary information, so they do not leave anything out. The consulate may reject the application if it does not have all of the information requested.

Note: This is not permanent information. It depends on government policy.
